Ashes Into Jewellery
At Rings By Design we understand how precious an item of jewellery can become. We create jewellery from your loved one’s ashes which you can treasure and hold close to you.

How does memorial jewellery work?
There are three steps we work to so that you can be sure to get a piece of memorial jewellery you will love.
Step one
Book a free, no-obligation consultation. We will discuss the type of memorial jewellery item you would prefer– A ring, a pendant, cufflinks or some other type of jewellery. We will then explore other aspects and options such as metal type, resin colours, sizes etc. Once we know exactly what you would like we will provide a quotation for you to consider. The quotation will be valid for at least 7 days so you don’t need to decide instantly if you would like to go ahead.
Step two
When you’re ready – Place your memorial jewellery order. We ask for a 50% deposit at the time of order with the balance becoming payable on completion. Book an appointment to bring your loved one’s ashes into the workshop or request a pack from us if you would prefer to send them by post. We only need a very small amount of ashes to make your jewellery and anything not used will be returned to you when you take delivery of your jewellery.
Step three
We’ll create your bespoke memorial item and contact you as soon as it is ready. Our normal lead time is approx. 6 to 8 weeks from time of order.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of jewellery can I incorporate ashes in?
Rings, pendants, ear-rings and cufflinks are the most popular items requested but if there is something else you would like please talk to us and we will try to oblige.
What kind of metals can I choose?
We can work in white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, platinum or sterling silver. 9ct or 18 ct gold is available.
How do you incorporate ashes into the jewellery?
We mix a small amount of ash along with a colouring agent into resin. The resin can be applied to the jewellery directly or formed in a mould and then mounted. The resin is cured with ultraviolet light to harden.
What Colours Can I Add to the Resin?
We offer the following choice of colours to add to your resin – Blue, Purple, Teal, Black, Red, Aqua, Tangerine Orange, Green, Yellow
Can Ashes Rings By Resized?
If the resin is incorporated into the ring directly it is difficult to resize as the heat required to adjust the ring is likely to damage the resin. We advise you to retain some ashes and we can create a fresh resin for you if resizing is required in the future.
